We'll show you the cool EarthFair slide show and tell you about all the ways you can help make every day Earth Day.
On Earth Day in April, millions of people look for something meaningful to do for the environment. In San Diego, more than 70,000 people are expected to attend San Diego Earth Day's seventh annual EarthFair in Balboa Park on Sunday, April 20, 1997 from 10am - 5pm.
Featuring more than 250 educational exhibits and five stages of entertainment, the EarthFair is the largest free environmental event in California. Over 400 volunteers produce the EarthFair, managing the Earth Parade, parking bicycles, setting up exhibits, answering phones and separating recyclables.
Volunteers are needed before the EarthFair, too. Current projects for 1997 include: the campaign for sustainable food choices, the EARTH (Environmental Action and Restoration That Helps) awards, the VIP (Very Important Planet) reception, and a luncheon workshop for business leaders as well as the EarthFair.
San Diego Earth Day is a year-round, volunteer-run
non-profit organization dedicated to a clean, healthy and prosperous future.
Events throughout the year encourage people to take individual action for
the future. For more information on Earth Day activities, to volunteer,
or to receive exhibitor or sponsorship information, call 496-6666.
