2002 Wolf Awareness Week

Join the California Wolf Center and Defenders of Wildlife at a special fundraiser October 12th and 13th

provided by California Wolf Center

ragedy struck the California Wolf Center at the end of July when the Pines Fire swept through the grounds killing four wolves, and causing significant infrastructure damage. The money raised at this event will be used exclusively to repair the damage caused by the fire, and allow the Center to expand its participation in the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Program.

They have some very special programs for you, so please show your support for the critical work the California Wolf Center is doing to ensure the Mexican wolf's survival by attending one of our three events on this Wolf Awareness Weekend.

    All programs include:

  • An informative update about the California Wolf Center
  • A rare opportunity to hear from an expert in the field! Brian Kelly, Mexican Wolf Recovery Team Coordinator for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, will be their featured guest speaker. Brian will talk about bringing the Mexican gray wolf back from the brink of extinction, and current and future reintroduction efforts in Arizona and New Mexico.
  • A visit with the Center's ambassador wolf pack, and an optional hike to see the new Mexico 3 wolf enclosure.
  • Refreshments and snacks.
  • A special gift.
