Workshop on promoting solar technologies in San Diego

he San Diego Regional Energy Of- fice will be hosting a one-day workshop entitled "Forging Partnerships to Bring Solar Energy to the San Diego Region" on Wednesday, September 29, 1999 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The event is the official kickoff of the San Diego Region Million Solar Roofs (MSR) Initiative.

Topics to be covered during the workshop include:

  • An overview of the National Million Solar Roof Initiative (MSRI)
  • An overview of the San Diego Partnership role in the MRSI
  • An update on solar technologies
  • Perspectives from industry representatives
  • The role of federal agencies in San Diego's MRSI
  • MRSI and federal resources for financing and procurement of solar systems

This event is intended for regional and local government representatives with an interest/stake in MSR, Federal agency representatives, community groups, local energy service providers and energy service companies, and individuals interested in promoting solar energy use in the region.

The purpose of the workshop is to identify target markets and implementation strategies for MSR within the San Diego region. As a result of this meeting, it is envisioned that key partnerships will be established, and a strategic plan formulated, to support the successful implementation of MSR within the region. At the conclusion of the event, participants will develop an action plan to map out next steps and an overall strategy for developing a cohesive MSRI campaign in the region.
