San Diego EarthWorks seeks new Executive Director

San Diego EarthWorks, a volunteer-based organization, is best known for producing the annual EarthFair in Balboa Park each April. Regularly drawing more than 50,000 visitors, this is the largest annual Earth Day event in the country.

Now, EarthWorks is looking for a new staff person. This is a full-time, salaried position, available immediately. The Director will be responsible for developing and managing year-round projects and programs that express and further the goals of the organization.

The job includes managing the office and volunteers, producing events and raising funds. Applicant must have excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), and be extremely reliable. The successful applicant must be computer-literate. Previous public event production experience is a strong plus. Grant-writing and fund-raising experience is a plus. This job entails extensive work with volunteers: making presentations, enrolling new volunteers, and making sure they are trained and have the resources they need to get a job done.

Starting salary for this position is $30K annually. Raises are contingent on the manager securing grants or producing projects that generate additional revenue for the organization, and on managing costs. The position includes 10 paid vacation days plus 3 weeks paid vacation per year. Our office is located in Pacific Beach. Hours are flexible.
